Reviews for Magellan Maestro 4250 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator:
This being my first gps I had researched several products before I decided on the 4250. The 4250 had the features I wanted, with the best price through Amazon at Beach Camera. After I had read the negative reviews the first thing I did when I received the unit was to register it and upgrade the firmware. Being a AAA member I received a warranty extension and I upgraded the tour book information as well. After using the trip planner on my vacation and having the destinations preprogrammed was a big time saver. I have no complaints with the routing accuracy. When I had to change my route due to traffic or construction, the routing recalculation was fast and accurate. The satellite signal was readily available and had no problems there either. I used the POI's daily and found them to be very accurate and extremely helpful. This feature really did save me a lot of extra miles, and aggravation. The text to speech feature requires a certain tone of voice to activate it,and could use some improvement. If I were to offer one negative it would be that the USB cable was too short for easy use.
I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone wanting a GPS with these features.
For the most part I am happy with the Magellan, the only exceptions is when it is connecting to my cell phone,it does not always work,IT is about 50/50 and since I primarly bought this to work as a hands free device from my car,it was a little disapointing. I acutally have to turn the Magellan off to disconect from my phone to be able to use the other features. the other is that the voice recognition really does not work all that well. Other than that it is a good device as a gps.
Had trouble w/1st delivery but talked to their CS and a new one was sent immediately. Having fun purposely getting lost in my own city! Taking a road trip in September, think it will really help us avoid those wrong turns that can make a vacation unnecessarily stressful...especially with the cost of gas!!
Very happy with product :-)
its useful and easy to use with a voice command interface that lets you interact with the magallan by ur words rather than your hands. Its a cool gadget and i am very much satisfied with it.
I really liked the GPS performance and the voice recognition functions of the Model 4250. However,it has a small speaker which could not always be clearly heard at highway speeds - due to wind/road noise. Even with volume set at maximum and with the car radio off. Magellan does not provide headphone or line-audio outputs to enhance sound. Such features are fairly common in the Garmin units. I returned the 4250 and got a full refund from Amazon. They also reimbursed the shipping charges. I'll probably get the Model 5310 which has a much larger speaker but no voice recognition,or wait for the new models due out this Summer. Whatever my future decision,I'll be buying from Amazon again. REASONABLE PRICE,FAST SHIPPING,GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. A wonderful shopping experience !!
