Wider screen lets you see more of what's around; Compare these actual size views of a 3-inch (diagonal) screen
and a 4.3-inch diagonal widescreen
Widescreen -- See Better, See More The widescreen format gives you 70% more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen; Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving; This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc; are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea; Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push.
FM Transmitter -- Hear Better, Hear More Instead of straining your ears to hear turn-by-turn directions or your favorite MP3s, you can enjoy wireless FM audio transmission via the nüvi 660's wireless FM transmitter; Tune your car's radio to the appropriate station and you'll hear all the nüvi's audio, including voice prompts, MP3s, audio books, and more, directly through your vehicle's stereo system; The nüvi 660 includes many "must-have" entertainment and travel tools, including digital music and audio book playback, JPEG picture viewer, currency converters, and more; All these great features make the nüvi 660 a complete Personal Travel Assistant.
First Rate Map Data The nüvi 660 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps, including a hefty POI database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more; Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions; Garmin gets its map data from NAVTEQ, a world leader in premium-quality mapping.
In addition, the nüvi 660 accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs
Important note about map updates: Due to our high volume of sales, almost every Garmin portable GPS navigator sold by Amazon.com will come with the most recent map version; If you ever do need a map update, you can purchase one from Amazon.com at our Garmin Store. Hands-Free Calling In more and more places, it is becoming illegal to use cell phones while driving without a hands-free kit; The nüvi 660's Bluetooth capability, microphone and speaker lets match it to any bluetooth-capable phone to make hands-free mobile phone calls; Simply dial the phone number with the nüvi's touch screen keypad to make a call on a compatible phone; To answer an incoming call, just tap the screen and speak into the built-in microphone; Making and taking calls on the road has never been easier, or safer; In addition, Garmin makes it a breeze to look-up and dial numbers from your personalized phone book or even tap into your cell phone's call history log.
Integrated FM Traffic Receiver
Steer clear of traffic with an integrated FM traffic receiver designed to receive alerts from TMC Clear Channel about traffic tie-ups and road construction that might lie ahead on your route; All you have to do is simply touch the screen to view traffic details and you'll be ready to detour around any problem area; And if you end up missing a turn, or you're forced into a detour that is not relayed through the traffic receiver, the nüvi's sophisticated automatic routing will get you back on track in no time.
In most areas, TMC Clear Channel traffic broadcasts are continuous — there's no waiting for scheduled traffic news updates or random alerts; Because traffic broadcasts are received via a "silent" FM data channel, you can still listen to music or news programming on your car radio without interference from incoming FM traffic data transmissions.
A 3-month subscription to TMC Clear Channel's Total Traffic Network is included with purchase of this device; For more information on subscription fees, coverage in individual cities, and traffic data networks in the United Kingdom and Europe, check the Garmin website.
Easy To Use Interface Garmin's interface is a key to their success and one of the things that makes their devices such a pleasure to use; Simple controls and sub-screens make it easy to enter or search for destinations and get data about your trip.

Reviews for Garmin nüvi 660 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator:
I have seen other GPS systems and I really like the Garmin 660 the best.
Very user friendly. I would definetly recommend this to any one looking for a GPS system
After consulting Consumer Reports, which listed this as a best buy item,I bought this GPS for my husband's birthday. Since I am slightly (ok,greatly) "technology-challenged" I imagined I'd never use it,but would leave it to the husband to figure out. On the way out to run errands one day I took it along just for kicks. I was blown away at how easy it was to figure out and use. While I am not familiar with all the extras it has to offer (what is Bluetooth, anyway?!),the rest was so simply laid out it would be hard to NOT understand how to use it.
We have only lived in this state for 3 months and it has been a godsend in getting us to and from places we've never been. If it had not been for this GPS I still would not have returned home from dropping my husband off at the airport last week. The roads here are windy and plentiful but Jane (as we call our english-accented speaker) easily directed me home. I LOVE this thing and can't believe we didn't get one earlier with all the travelling we do!
I bought this for our trip to Los Angeles and San Diego in early August. After a couple of weeks of usage, here is my opinion of this product.
Pros: Very easy to use. The screen is bright enough to view outside. Decent number of POI. The bluetooth integration with my phone worked out well. Decent screen size. Relatively clear instructions (not perfect).
Cons: FM Transmitter Sucks. If you wanted to this feature, you might be very disappointed. The quality of the audio is terrible if you can get it to work.
The built in speakers could be louder. It was hard to heard the instructions from the unit when the window was down or the radio is on at a normal volume.
The routing algorithm can use some tweaking. When we were in LA,I took the wrong exit to our hotel. The unit rerouted us. For some reason,it took us on a circular loop on one segment of the route. We went thought a number of streets just to end up on the same street that we have traveled already. Then it correctly routed us to our destination. It's not a big deal except we were guided through a ghetto.
When we were in San Diego near Balboa park,we had punched in Lego Land as our destination. We took north bound 163 as instructed by the GPS. On this particular route, the GPS unit instructed us to take an off ramp. It then instruct us to get back on to the same freeway we had just exited. This was a bit strange.
Other Improvements: Finer control of the volume. Faster boot up time.
Play video.
I really haven't had it but a few weeks but my experience with it so far has been good. It would've been nice to be able to store several destinations instead of just one at a time but none of these things are perfect or do it all. The screen size is nice and large, the voice is annoying with always "recalculating" and the installed software nearly always takes you to non-direct routing and it's why "she" is always recalculating when you take a route you know is better, shorter too with less traffic !! my shopping with Amazon is always great though !! and goods are delivered promptly.
Excellent product! The features are worth the extra you pay for this GPS as compared to the Nuvi 650.
Here are my remarks:
-The FM transmitter is awesome and so easy to use. you can play all your MP3s through your car stereo,no extra equipment needed besides the car charger which is included.
-Bluetooth: At first I was under the impression that my phone was not compatible with the Nuvi's bluetooth based on the webiste. But when I got it,I was able to connect my UTStarcom Slice phone with the GPS. I also connected a Motorola Stripe and a Nokia cell phone. Your call also transmits through your stereo so you can hear clearly. On the other end the person your talking to may say it sounds like you are in a bathroom or underwater lol,but they can still hear you. You can also store one phone number in the GPS,which I put as my home phone,so that you can call with one easy click.
-Pictures: I havn't really found a need for this feature yet,but its nice to have.
-Navigation: Excellent! no issues with not getting a signal or slow tracking. Best you could expect from a GPS. The only issue I had with navigation was that you set the GPS to chart the shortest route or the Fastest time. SO you pick one. Well from my observation Fastest time shows you an interstate route if applicable and Shortest route usually takes you through the city. So if you are traveling out of town select fastest time so that it shows you the route on interstate, otherwise you may not enjoy taking the scenic route through an unfamiliar town. Also you can view the map in different aspects and zoom.
- POIs: There are a lot of POIs for schools, restaurants, stores, malls, businesses. You can search for these very easily by catergory or by typing in part of the name in a search. It acts like a google search,so if you time in diner you will get all matches with the word diner. You are also able to save and rename your own POIs. Also when you search the phone number to the business is pulled up so that you can quick dial them through your GPS! I found searching for nearby restaurants so effective through the GPS,but of course some places I knew to be out of business where still on the list.
-Voice: You can customize the voice you hear on the GPS,it can be male or female and either american, british, austrailian, french german, etc.
-Battery Life: Excellent
-Garmin Lock: easy to use,if you forget your pin for any reason you just need to go to the place where you set your pin and it will unlock. It may prevent theft,I am not sure, but basically it prevents the criminal from benefitting from your loss.
-3 Months free traffic updates: Could not figure this out and did not find information on how to get it online. Seems like you need to sign up for the service and then maybe you get 3 months free, but I did not want to risk getting charged $60 before I know if I even need the service.
All in all for my first GPS I am satisfied with my purchase and have no regrets, other than the price went down a few days after I got it ;-) ...Amazon has the best price for this GPS.
